As 2024 draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable journey we’ve had this year as a team dedicated to advancing orthopaedic care and improving the lives of our patients.
This year, our collective efforts have been nothing short of extraordinary. We’ve continued to push boundaries in research, refine surgical techniques, and expand access to care for communities near and far. Together, we’ve achieved milestones that exemplify our commitment to excellence and innovation in orthopaedics.
Consistently recognized as one of the nation's top orthopaedic programs, UPMC's orthopaedic surgery program offers a wide range of specialty services, uses innovative techniques, and conducts vital research.
We welcome the opportunity to tell you more about our efforts in 2024 and invite you to learn more about our exceptional team and hope you'll consider voting for UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report "Best Hospitals" survey.
With gratitude,

Affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside is proud to be nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report for excellence in orthopaedic surgery.
Developed in collaboration with colleagues from the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, including Diana Pinkhasova, MD, and Karen Selk, DO, the program aims to address the gap in osteoporosis care, particularly for those at risk of a second fracture by conducting a comprehensive osteoporosis evaluating and, when appropriate, initiating treatment while in the hospital. Also collaborating on the project are orthopaedic surgeon Aaron Taylor, MD, and Matt Tagliaferro, PA-C, as well as the entire team of orthopaedic surgery physician assistants and the endocrinology team at UPMC Mercy.
