Doctors discuss advanced therapy options for patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) to reduce symptoms associated with severe left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction. Doctors also review the advantages and disadvantages of both septal myectomy and alcohol septal ablation.

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the appropriate treatment options for patients in need of hybrid aortic aneurysm repair
  • Describe optimal anesthesia procedures for TAVRs
  • Recognize patient characteristics favoring referral for alcohol septal ablation
  • Identify the clinical characteristics of patients who qualify for Left Atrial Appendage closure
  • Recall technical aspects of Left Atrial Appendage procedure
  • Implement correct Left Atrial Appendage follow-up measures post-implant and increase patient outcomes
