About the UPMC Liver Transplant Program

Despite taking on difficult and complex cases that other centers deem high-risk, the UPMC Liver Transplant Program has maintained outcomes on par with national benchmarks. We lead the nation in overall liver transplants performed from both deceased and living donors. Living-donor liver transplants account for 50% of the liver transplants performed at UPMC and we were the only center to perform more living-donor liver transplants than deceased-donor liver transplants in the last four years.

UPMC’s Total Liver Care Model

Offering complete care requires collaboration between multiple disciplines to treat patients at every stage of their disease progression. Our comprehensive approach starts with early diagnosis and intervention for patients with early to advanced-stage liver disease, innovations in transplant oncology, and access to groundbreaking clinical trials.

Referral and Evaluation

We maintain open communication with referring physicians who are available to consult with you or your team via phone, email, in-person meetings, teleconference sessions, or during UPMC’s weekly transplant selection committee meeting.
