Living-Donor Liver Transplant for Patients with Low MELD Scores

Living-donor liver transplant is a first-line treatment option for patients with traditional or complex liver conditions. Any patient with liver decompensation irrespective of their MELD score should still be considered for a liver transplant, including those diagnosed with:

  • ABO incompatible living donor liver transplant
  • Acute liver failure
  • Alcoholic hepatitis
  • Bloodless medicine or bloodless surgery
  • HIV recipients
  • Low/ high MELD patients
  • Re-do liver transplants
  • Simultaneous liver kidney
